Grassley Investigation Has Officially Ended

Dear Partners and Friends,

KCM and your BSU team are very happy to share with you important news out of Washington today. The Grassley investigation targeting six faith ministries that began in 2007 has officially ended.

Sen Grassley’s office stated that there were no findings of wrong doing within Kenneth Copeland Ministries and therefore no penalties were levied against KCM.

It was God’s faithfulness and your prayers and support that truly made the difference. Thank you for standing with us for freedom and justice for all people of faith.

The Scripture from II Kings, Chapter 6 comes to mind at this moment. You’ll remember Elisha and his aide were surrounded by forces aligned against them. When his assistant was full of panic, Elisha prayed “Lord open his eyes.”. Then he looked up and saw all of the hosts and angels in full battle regalia. And Elisha said, “There are more with us than there are with them.”. This is a great truth for you to remember in your daily walk of faith.

Join us in thanksgiving to God and in continued prayer for those who represent us in the United States Congress.

Hawaii Partners Ask for Help

Our BSU partners in Hawaii have asked for help with an issue that just surfaced this past week. A complaint has been filed by the Citizens of Separation of Church and State noting that too many Honolulu City Council meetings have begun with a Christian prayer. A news article in the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper states that this is a “loosely organized citizen group which has been mainly inactive.”

National Day of Prayer – Update

I wrote you last week to inform you of the ruling by Ms. Barbara Crabb of the U.S. District Court of the Western District of Wisconsin that the National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional and therefore should not be recognized. Ms. Crabb was nominated to the Court by Jimmy Carter and has been serving since 1979.

This judge is responding to a lawsuit that was filed two years ago by the atheist group, Freedom From Religion also based in Wisconsin, stating that the government should not be involved in any religious action or prayer. Of course, we know that anyone with even a limited knowledge of American History understands the importance of faith to our Nation. The values of faith and freedom for all people was indeed a core belief for the founders of America and this cannot be disputed with integrity.

We Must Stand Up And Be Counted

This is a critical time in our Nation and we must stand up and be
counted. President Obama says he will recognize the National Day of
Prayer this year in spite of the ruling but that he would not be able to
do so in the future if the appeal process fails.

“In God We Trust” Doesn’t Violate Separation of Church and State

I’m very happy to celebrate with you another victory in the Courts of the United States. This time from the unlikely but important 9th Circuit in California. Most usually thought of as one of the most liberal courts in our Nation Judges from this Court voted 3-0 to uphold “In God We Trust” on coins and currency.

Judge Carlos Bea also affirmed that the Pledge of Allegiance with the words “Under God” does not violate the U.S. Constitution. The Judge stated, “The Pledge of Allegiance serves to unite our vast nation through the proud recitation of some of the ideals upon which our republic was founded.”

Victory for Freedom – For Ministries and Tax Exempt Organizations

During the last week of February 2010 the Tarrant County Appraisal District (TAD) In Ft. Worth, Texas settled a dispute in favor of Kenneth Copeland Ministries. Last year the TAD denied a request from Kenneth Copeland Ministries for religious exemption from certain property taxes mainly related to aircraft belonging to KCM. Part of the requirement for this exemption was a request for the names, positions and salaries of each of the ministries employees (nearly 600 persons). Although the director of the Appraisal District stated publicly that this requirement was not law and that he and his staff never read the documentation.
