A Reborn Race

The thought that every born-again believer can operate in the power of THE BLESSING the same way Jesus or the early apostles did, amazes many Christians. They struggle to picture themselves multiplying natural resources (like loaves and fish), healing the sick or raising the dead. Yet, in the Bible, Jesus emphatically declared that any person with simple faith in Him could do all those things and more:

 

  • “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12)
  • “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (verses 13-14)
  • “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” (Matthew 17:20)
  • “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

One Word From God, Kenneth Copeland Ministries

Long before Kenneth and Gloria Copeland began speaking the phrase “One Word From God Can Change Your Life Forever” into the lives of the thousands they minister to each day, Kenneth had seen his own life completely revolutionized by “one word” he heard in a teaching by Kenneth E. Hagin titled, “You Can Have What You Say.”

kenneth-gloria-copelandIn his quest for faith, Kenneth knew he needed to know more of what Brother Hagin preached, but he didn’t have the money to pay for it.

“What I needed next was every tape by Brother Hagin that I could get my hands on,” Kenneth recalled, looking back on that time in the late 1960s. “I drove my old car over to Brother Hagin’s headquarters. His son-in-law, Buddy Harrison, was his general manager. I’d never met him, but I introduced myself and told him I’d been called to preach.”

“I need Brother Hagin’s tapes,” Kenneth told Harrison. “Here is the title to my car. I’ll send you every offering I get until I pay for them.”

Recognizing the hunger of this young preacher for the Word of God, Harrison did something unexpected. He refused to accept Kenneth’s car as collateral, but graciously gave him copies of all Brother Hagin’s teaching tapes.

Soon after, Kenneth locked himself away for a solid week to study his new found treasure–determined to hear from God.

“I knew my heart needed to be filled to overflowing with the Word,” he remembers. “I took my Bible and my tape player to the garage and made myself available to God. I stayed out there for seven days. The first day, I listened to tapes for 13 hours. The second day, I was out there for close to 15 hours. From then on I averaged 18 hours a day.”

What followed was the beginning of a transformation in Kenneth’s life–a transformation that would be the catalyst for change in his and Gloria’s lives, and the lives of hundreds of thousands of souls for the kingdom. Only eternity will reveal the abundance of that harvest, which began with a single gift, and “one word from God.”

Partners and Friends know Kenneth Copeland as a powerful prophet and teacher. But often they’re pleasantly surprised to discover he has a successful music ministry as well. In fact, over the past 33 years, Brother Copeland has released 32 albums–one of which included a Grammy-nominated song: “Only the Redeemed.”

Kenneth-Copeland-Ministries-Big-band-gospel.jpgKenneth Copeland’s love for singing stemmed from his childhood, but took first place in 1957, when he recorded a song called “Pledge of Love” for a mainstream label…long before he accepted his God-given call to ministry.

“That very day, I received my draft notice,” said Brother Copeland. “The record was released while I was in basic training in the U.S. Army. It did real well, but I couldn’t do anything about it. While that record was on the move, instead of being available to accept offers to perform on national TV and on movie soundtracks, I stood guard duty.

“Today, I thank Almighty God for protecting me,” he added. “Two other young men had their first records on the charts at the same time as ‘Pledge of Love.’ Their names were Johnny Mathis and Elvis Presley. That kind of success would have destroyed me.”

When he was released from the Army, young Kenneth walked away from his 20-year dream of being an entertainer. “I didn’t sing for a long time after I began this ministry. Why? I had a lot to unlearn. I knew how to entertain, and I knew how to sell a song. That’s not what I was called to do.

“The call on my life is to preach the Word of God. I can do that with or without a melody, but the motive of my heart has to be that the Word goes forth. I’m not saying there isn’t an element of entertainment in ministry music. I am saying that it’s wrong for someone with a call on his life to make entertainment a priority.”

Since making that decision, God has blessed Brother Copeland, with countless opportunities to use music as a ministry. His psalmist gift has enabled him to minister to those who may not listen to his teaching, but will receive his ministry in song.
