Part 2 of Kenneth Copeland’s “Jonah” Experience

September 18, 2009, by KCM 2 comments

This story is continued from Kenneth Copeland’s “Jonah” Experience

Shortly after the car wreck Kenneth and Gloria attended an Oral Roberts partner meeting and that’s where Kenneth Copeland received his anointing for ministry.

At the end of the five-day meeting, Oral Roberts laid his hands on Kenneth. Moments later, while sitting in a chair, Kenneth looked up and saw a transparent vision of the people in the meeting. On the inside, their spirits looked weak and starved, but their heads were grotesquely enormous.

“It hit me so hard, I began to weep. I cried and asked, ‘What is this? What’s the matter with these people?’” Kenneth Copeland recalled.

And the Lord replied, These are people whose spirits-even though born again-are so untaught and so unfed with the Word of God, and their heads are so full of religion and tradition, they’re so untaught and their faith is so shriveled, they are spiritually helpless. Then the Lord added, Kenneth, you’re looking at the cream of the crop right here. You ought to see the bad ones…I have called you and anointed you to do something about this.

That’s when Kenneth Copeland learned what he was called to do.

“When Oral Roberts laid hands on me, that was the moment this ministry was born in my spirit.” Then Kenneth added, “Well, to tell you the truth, I think it was in there before. Because the day I was born, they brought me in to my mother and she took me in her hands and the first thing she did…she held me up and dedicated me to the ministry of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, there isn’t any way you can get away from that.”

Kenneth Copeland’s “Jonah” Experience

September 16, 2009, by KCM 2 comments

In 1966, Kenneth Copeland had a “Jonah” experience when he was suddenly swallowed up one night in Marshall, Texas. Only God didn’t send a whale to turn Kenneth Copeland around.

“God, who is my Deliverer, was waiting on me in Tulsa,” Brother Copeland recalls of that life-changing incident. “But instead of heeding the call of God to head on over to where I belonged–where my deliverance was–I went the other way.”

kenneth-and-gloria-copeland.jpgFor a while, Brother Copeland tried his own pursuits such as working at an insurance company. But he couldn’t get away from the call of God on his life. He just kept thinking, Man, I’m not supposed to be here. I’m in the wrong spot. I’m doing the wrong thing. Every time he prayed, God would say, I want you in Tulsa, Okla., at Oral Roberts University. And Brother Copeland, who never enjoyed school, would respond, “Oh, I can’t do that.”

Then, after attending a Holy Ghost meeting in Houston, someone approached him about being their church’s music minister. Kenneth Copeland accepted, though on the inside he kept hearing, ORU! ORU! Tulsa! ORU!

“I decided we were going to Houston,” says Kenneth Copeland. “I knew it was wrong.”

On Oct. 31, 1966, while driving on Highway 59 through Marshall, Texas, en route to begin that job, Kenneth and his family were involved in a car wreck. His young son, John, was flung into the front, breaking his arm and some ribs. Gloria’s face slammed into the car’s dashboard. Kellie, also a small child, was-thankfully-fine.

“If it hadn’t been for the grace of God, it would have killed us all,” Kenneth later said of the incident.

Sitting in a rocking chair in the hospital following the accident, Kenneth prayed in the spirit, repenting to God. He told God he was tired of running and that he’d been “a Jonah too long.” Something miraculous happened on the inside of him-and Kenneth was touched by the Spirit like never before.

The next day, Kenneth’s parents drove down to get them, since his car was totally destroyed. They took the family back to Fort Worth. “We were driving along,” Kenneth recalls, “and there’s silence in that car. I’m just sitting there praying, thanking God my family is alive.”

Suddenly, from the silence, Kenneth’s father said he had received two extra invitations to an Oral Roberts partner meeting-and asked if Kenneth and Gloria wanted to go. Kenneth asks, “Do you think I’d pass up another chance to go to Tulsa? No!”

At that meeting, Oral Roberts laid his hands on Kenneth Copeland and the vision for Kenneth Copeland Ministries was born.

Twice Sown Seed

September 11, 2009, by KCM No comments yet

When you give to Kenneth Copeland Ministries, people all over the world are set free…and in more ways than you might imagine!

twice-sown-seed.jpgKCM’s outreach goes far beyond the powerful voices the Lord has entrusted to us such as the BVOV broadcast, international meetings and this magazine. Our outreach extends to other ministries—trusted, effective ministries—all around the globe. This is because the first 10 percent of all gross income received by Kenneth Copeland Ministries from donations and sales is placed into a special, earmarked fund we call Twice-Sown Seed. In other words, when we receive a gift from you, we sow a portion of it again into another ministry—so every penny you give is twice sown—it’s twice as effective and will yield twice the eternal reward.

Together with the Lord, we are meeting needs and changing the world through the miracle-working, eternal equation of Twice-Sown Seed. Here are just a few examples:

  • Your seed supports KCM and its worldwide ministry operations.
  • Your seed reaches behind prison walls with Mike Barber Ministries.
  • Your seed shares love with “at risk” young women through Mercy Ministries homes for girls.
  • Your seed flies medical missionary teams to those in pain via Air Transport for Christ.
  • Your seed comforts people during disasters, shouts out at evangelistic outreaches, teaches children about the Lord and much, much more.

The list goes on and on, but the bottom line is this: When you give to Kenneth Copeland Ministries, your gift is immediately and globally multiplied with the greatest of stewardship. So when we say thank you for your faithfulness, we’re not just speaking for ourselves. We’re also speaking on behalf of many other ministries around the world. Through Twice-Sown Seed, when Partners and Friends like you give to KCM, you’re literally changing the face of the earth!

Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ Children’s Ministry is Equipping a New Generation of Faith

August 13, 2009, by KCM 6 comments

“There is no price too big, no effort too great, no job too hard for our God to reach our children. Whatever we must do, we are going to reach our kids.”

Kenneth Copeland said it, and over the years, you, our KCM Partners and Friends, have been helping us accomplish that goal through your faithful prayers and financial support.

For close to 20 years, KCM has been producing books, devotionals, magazines, tapes, CDs, music videos and movies specifically designed to minister to children around the globe.

The Superkids and Wichita Slim Are Born

Kenneth Copeland Ministries Superkids bookThe idea for Commander Kellie and the Superkids was birthed in the 1980s, and the first Superkids adventure audiotape was released in 1989. Three more audiotape adventures followed. By 1992, the first Commander Kellie and the Superkids movie, The Intruder, had been released. That same year, Wichita Slim (Kenneth Copeland’s western character) made his first appearance, to the delight of young audiences all over the world.

“We set out to do full-length motion pictures, and in those motion pictures, train and teach the power of the Word of God,” Brother Copeland explained.

The next Superkids movie, The Armor of Light, debuted in 1995, followed by The Sword in October 1997. Then, in May 1999, Judgment: The Trial of Commander Kellie-the most recent Superkids movie-was released.

A powerful film, Judgment was built around Revelation 12:11: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony….”

“The Lord told us to make this film about the blood of Jesus,” Kellie Copeland, a.k.a. Commander Kellie, shared.

Premieres of Judgment were held around the world following the movie’s initial release, and thousands of children came to Jesus.

Something to SHOUT! About

127152.jpgIn addition to audio teachings and movies, KCM began reaching out to children via print in April 1993, when the first children’s comic page appeared in the Believer’s Voice of Victory magazine. By May 1994, that single page had grown into an entire full-color magazine just for children, called Shout! The Voice of Victory for Kids. The subscription list for the comic-book-style magazine grew from about 5,000 early on to more than 150,000 when its last issue was distributed in 2006.

Funds that were being used to produce Shout! are now being funneled into other faith-filled products for children, adding to our library that already includes: The Faith Adventures of Wichita Slim videos and books; Baby Praise and Baby Praise Christmas; The Superkids novels; The Shout! Super-Activity Book; Noah’s Ark Coloring Book; Over The Edge, a daily devotional for teens; and so much more.

KCM’s commitment to children remains strong. From special children’s ministry at Believers’ Conventions to new power-packed products, God is using KCM to reach, teach and equip children worldwide.

Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ Distribution Center

June 18, 2009, by KCM 3 comments

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19

Helping to supply the needs of God’s people.

That is the heart of Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ Distribution Center staff. In all they do, they pray God uses them to help supply the needs of the ministry’s Partners and Friends worldwide. From dawn to dusk, they fulfill orders, print and mail correspondence, duplicate CDs and DVDs, prepare materials for meetings and warehouse all the ministry’s products. It’s all part of their mission to bring the truth of God’s Word to the world…one shipment at a time.

“We believe we are literally supplying the Word through books and media to our Partners and Friends–and that it will supply all their need, according to the power of the Word contained in it,” said the distribution center manager.  “It is an honor to distribute each letter or package.  It is a tangible item that has eternal results.”

In 2008 alone, Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ Distribution Center shipped 644,908 product orders and mailed 4,435,780 letters. Working in 19-hour rotation shifts, the 39 distribution center employees work diligently to duplicate and distribute the messages Partners and Friends need to walk in faith and victory.  In fact, most letters and packages are shipped within 24 hours of receiving the requests.

“We pray every day for our Partners, believing that every piece of mail and every product we send has an eternal effect on everyone who comes in contact with it,”  said the distribution center manager.

The Core of the Gospel

Kenneth Copeland Ministries DCIn addition to day-to-day operations, the KCM Distribution Center staff works overtime when they receive notice that an area has been hit by a storm or natural disaster, such as a hurricane, tornado or the recent California wildfires. During those times, plenty of supplies–including encouraging Word-filled books–are gathered to bring relief and God’s compassion to those in the affected areas.

“I love seeing our team and KCM respond with pallet after pallet of books, water, clothing and supplies being readied for emergency distribution by plane or truck,” the distribution center manager said.  “Being ready to respond and help any way necessary is truly the core of the gospel.”

Helping bring truth and deliverance to those in prison is also part of the distribution center’s duties. Last year, 147,630 Bibles and other devotional materials were mailed to inmates around the United States.

“Reaching into prisons with tens of thousands of letters and products, and seeing the many testimonies of lives set free from bondages most people have never even heard of, is truly a blessing.”

The duties the distribution center staff performs each day are vital to Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ worldwide ministry. Because of their hard work, the Word flows efficiently and consistently and lives are forever changed.

“It takes a special heart to do this every day, and the team members here do it wholeheartedly,” says Anderson. “When we get more orders than we think we can ship in a day, we get excited! Sending the Word to people all over the world is exciting because it is the burden-removing power of God in action. This is truly full-time ministry.”

The Door Is Always Open

The distribution center’s staff considers it an honor to meet the Partners and Friends who make their work possible, and they love giving tours of their facility.

“What we do every day is made possible by the unwavering diligence and faithfulness of our Partners,” the distribution center manager said. “We are so grateful they support us with their prayers! It makes a difference in the lives of millions. We pray as a team every day for them and welcome their visits.”

Kenneth Copeland Ministries Distribution PhotoSo the next time you’re in Fort Worth, Texas, drop by Kenneth Copeland Ministries’ headquarters for a tour, and make sure it includes a visit to our distribution center. It’s a great opportunity to see your faith in action through a place that is touching lives around the world, and bringing believers from the milk of the Word to the meat.

And be sure to say a special prayer for these ministers who put their faith into action each and every day. The KCM Distribution Center–We’re here for you!
